Buses depart from Kinpun, which is the ‘base camp’ village for Mount Kyaiktiyo – and is where the non-mountaintop hotels can be found.

To Mawlamyine and Hpa An – There are daily buses from nearby Kyaik Hto.
To Inle Lake and Kalaw – As there are no direct buses, the most convenient way to do this journey is via Yangon. However, if you wish to take a more direct route, you can either take the bus from nearby Kyaik Hto to Nay Pyi Taw, or you can go via Bago.
To Bago – There are daily buses, the journey time is two hours. A transfer at transfer at Kyaik Hto is sometimes required.

Train

Trains depart from the nearby (and confusingly-named) town of Kyaik Hto, which is a 20-minute journey by taxi, motorbike taxi or pick-up from Kinpun, the ‘base camp’ village for Mount Kyaiktiyo. Price is around K3000.

There regular daily trains from Kyaik Hto to Yangon, Mawlamyine and Bago.
