Day-by-day Itinerary
Days 1-2 Yangon

Arrive in Yangon and head out to explore the old colonial architecture and restaurants of downtown, and soak in the bustling vibe. Experience Yangon’s dazzling cultural and religious diversity, from its eclectic range of food to the churches, mosques and Hindu temples that line its streets.

Take in the city’s beautiful parks and, at sunset, go to the Buddhist heart of Myanmar – the magnificent Shwedagon Pagoda.

Days 3-9 Yangon-Bagan

Fly to Bagan and explore the thousands of temples on its huge plain before joining the colonial-style river cruise boat RV Kalaw for a six day cruise up the mighty Irrawaddy to Mandalay. Be pampered in style and enjoy gourmet all-inclusive meals and drinks; air conditioned luxury; expert lectures on Myanmar history and culture; and panoramic views from the observation deck as you get to explore little seen parts of Myanmar and life along the river.

Day 10 Pyin U Lwin

After disembarking from the RV Kalaw the Mandalay riverfront, take a car up to the hills and the cooler climate of Pyin U Lwin; this colonial hill station was once considered the summer capital of British Burma and still has many of the old houses and mansions still standing. Explore the town by hopping on a bicycle or taking a colourful horse and cart carriage – working relics of bygone days. Ride to the beautifully maintained botanical gardens and take a dip in one of the many waterfalls in the surrounding countryside.

Days 11-13 Inle Lake

Fly to Heho airport and transfer via car to the characterful town of Nyaung Shwe, the gateway to Inle Lake. There will be plenty of time in the afternoon to relax or for sightseeing around the lake to see the local Intha fishermen employing their traditional one-leg rowing technique.

After breakfast the next day, visit the ancient lakeside stupas at Indein and see handicrafts in Nampan village. If the time is right, see the floating markets that are a photographer’s dream. Finish up your day with sunset wine tasting at Red Mountain Estate vineyard and then dinner on the lakeshore.

If you go for the superior hotel option at Inle Lake, a boat will take you to your hotel on the lake (standard hotels are in Nyaung Shwe).

Days 14-17 Ngapali Beach

For the perfect end to your Myanmar journey, fly to Ngapali beach, famed for its pristine white, palm-fringed sand, gentle surf and the freshest grilled seafood. Relax in this magical paradise on the Bay of Bengal, or try some adventure by scuba diving or mountain biking in the surrounding hills.

Day 18 Yangon

Fly back to Yangon, then transfer to Yangon International Airport for departure.
